Softball, V-day and The End!

Visiting day was mostly a success. The parents brought WAY to much food and we had seven sick campers and unfortunately 4 sick counselors. 6 cookie cakes for one buck is too much, let me tell you. The parents where crazy but great and it was fun to meet them. A few stuck out in the day due to different reasons both because they were cool and laid back, crazy and overly nice and way to over the top. I'm sure these kids got about 800 dollars worth of stuff each.

On thursday I got to take a softball team to a tourney at another camp. It was alot of fun and we even won! I met a few cool people from Timber Lake West and they are coming tomorrow to our huge softball tourney. It should be fun.

Finally nice today and I got to go swiming with the girls. They love the water and its fun to have happy kids!

Only 2 1/2 weeks left, I can't believe the summer has gone by so fast!

visiting day......

So It happened. I've been moved. I now work with Freshman bunk one. We are also currently experiencing World War Three.

None of our girls get along ever and all 7 of them want to go home tomorrow which is Visiting Day (let me get there later). I have 7 girls ages 6 thru 7. They are crazy little girls, cute and cuddley sometimes but other times they are just pure evil. The older ones pick on the little one and then on each other. I really have no idea what to do...

Visiting Day is tomorrow. I'm totally frightened. If my kids are nuts, imagine what the parents are going to be like. PLUS they bring so much food and presents for the kids, if only we were aloud to accept tips, I totally think that we deserve them.

oh man. bed time.

'Arry Potter :]

Another week going by.

On tuesday night I got to see HP 6 at the midnight premire. It was definately alot of fun and we were the only group in the crowd that had people with real British accents. We thought about dressing up in unconventional HP characters such as the Whomping Willow and Broomstick but it just never happened. The movie was good, I think that I may have to see it again. The best part was the British accents and discussing the movie afterwards! The next day was our day off and we enjoyed a relaxing day just hanging out at some falls and climbing on the rocks. It was good to get away from camp and just chill for the day. Plus the falls were sick. Too bad my camera is broken. :[

My girls have been gone since yesterday and I have been enjoying the solitude in the Lodge. Theres only about 6 of us left and we all slept very well last night.

I have about 4 weeks left here, which is something that is both a blessing and sad. I truely enjoy the people I've been meeting-they are from all over the World (London, South Africia, Ireland, Spain, Colombia and the US too). But some days I'm totally ready to be back in South Dakota and in my own room with my own stuff. I miss all my friends from home even though I won't be back for more than a day until class starts. I still have the state fair job and then I'll be back in B-town more permantently. Also-I found a third roommate and now our place is full!

I'm changing jobs and bunks again soon (sometime after saturday). I can't say I'm very happy about it but what can I say, I'm a nice person and I'll move where they put me. I'm pretty sure I'll be with the youngest group so I'm excited about that, they are cute and they all still love us unconditionally, they want someone to be their mom. And you all know how I love kids!

I'm also coaching a softball tourney on the 30th. I'm a little nervous but I think that it will be a good experience. It's up to 8th grade girls at Timber Lake West which is the sister camp of mine. It's the first chance I've had to coach softball at all here and I've very excited.

More soon-off to work on little mermaid costumes.

brief

oh my. I just got hipmotized. It was crazy crazy. I have no idea what happened but apparently I danced like crazy, laughed, cried, and like hooked up with a boy. Who knows. It was an experience, aparently. I'll have to check the videos out. hmmm.

Other than that, camp has been going well. I'm on my 4th job. I'm now directing/co-directing the play and designing costumes. It's so much fun.

short and sweet, but fun fun.

Woodstock

Today was my first day off. Me and three of the art shack girls that I work with decided to spend our day there. We shopped and ate awesome Chinese at a place called Wok n Roll. How cute right? We also got to lay out for a few hours by the river-the only thing missing was an acoustic guitar.

Woodstock was everything I had imagined. Old bearded men with guitars, Crazy ladies in floral skirts and tons of tie dye, Beatles and Bob Dylan posters, and lots of people enjoying the farmers market.

I think I'm in love, I want to spend every day I have off there just soaking up the culture, It was so great. I think everyone should go. Also today we found out the Dave Mathews band is playing on the field where Woodstock the concert was held later this summer. It's pretty much a must do and it's definitely on the agenda!

I'm going to bed early tonight and am refreshed and ready to take on another week of loud children, annoying children and my crazy teen girls (who actually seem to like me!)

I've been re posted in the art shack and am now just a floater and no LONGER IN CHARGE OF ROCKETS. way too exciting! I really love it in there and now get to do tons of fun stuff like make jewelery.

More updates when more fun things happen. :)

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

So. 5 Days in I get sick. What a surprise. Basically I'm miserable but it's just a sinus infection so I get to stay.

I've been given a new title, I'm no longer a general counselor, I'm a specialty in the Art Shack. I'm the new Rocket Girl. I get to teach kids to make rocket-good thing they come with instructions! I've also been moved from Freshman (8 and 9) girls to Teen (15 and 16) girls. I'm okay with it, I just didn't want any middle schoolers-they are so awkward!

We have three days until the kids come and thats when camp really begins. I can tell you all, this has already been a HUGE learning experience but a good one. I'm really enjoying my self-minus the illness.

More updates when the kids come!

Timber Lake Camp-I HAVE arrived!

I've arrived at camp atlast!

After 3 hours in the air, 4 hours at the Newark airport and 3.5 hours on a bus, it was a LONG day yesterday.

So here I am, out in the middle of no where with no cell phone service and a ton of people who I've never met and already, I'm having a blast. Everyone is so friendly and so cool and pretty much, it's great.

The campers arrive saturday (less than a week!) and I'm pretty excited for that. I'm 95% sure that i'll be with the 8 and 9 year olds but it could potentially be the 15 and 16 year olds. I think either way it's going to be a good time.

So far so good. Not much has happened. but if you want personal updates, check out my facebook for my camp address and you can send me letters!

Expect better stories in just a few short days when Kids arrive and I meet my Family for the next 8 weeks!

Fargo Tomorrow.

A brief update.  Sitting up waiting for Laundry. I was completely out of clean clothes!

Fargo tomorrow. Way excited.  Leaving around 3. Dinner with the Girls (Sarah, Courtney and Deb) and then who knows but it shall be fun!  Lake on saturday (Sun, Sun Sun :]).  Hanging out Sunday AND seeing miss Amy my other half on my way back to B-town.  It should be a good weekend, if you think of me, please pray for good weather and safe travels.

Check facebook next week for pictures! There will be plenty I promise!

School is almost out for the high school seniors! Congrats all my graduating friends and I wish I could go to ALL of the Grad parties, but alas, I'm out here.  Have a good day all.

I moved a few boxes into the new place today. It's really happening, I have a home!

camp countdown: 23 days. That's less than a month.
Move in countdown: 4 days. That's less than a week.

Morgan, I want a paint horse.

So here I am, its about 11:37 and I'm pretty much wide awake due to my four and a half hour nap from the hours of 5:50 to 10:25. oops, so much for getting up at 6:45.

anyway, my exciting news is that, I'm HOMEFUL. which in case you were wondering is the opposite of homeless. Yes, I have finally found a place to reside.  It's a cute duplex (yellow), 3 bed 2 bath that I'm currently sharing with a girl named Molly. I can start moving in asap. But my bed and furniture from home won't come down until June 1st. I'm thrilled to finally have a place and a place that I really really like.  It's pretty much brand new and is awesome.  Nice carpet, tiled kitchen/dinning room. Lots of storage space, a 2 car garage.  After all the crappy apartments I looked at, I was so happy to find this one!

Got to go home and do the horse races this weekend, we had two in and won both (It was for me, I needed to get my picture taken!) Got to bond with the Newest Hardy child (Our trainers) and see Jordan again, this time I was her favorite.  Austin is just a cutie, but huge.  He's four months and about 18 pounds and Jordan is 3 and a half and only about 24 pounds.

Jordan loves her brother most of the time but Monday night at our campfire/cook out, she told my mom and I that she was going to give him to the Rodeo (they're from Texas).  She also shared her gum with me (it was pre-chewed, yum right?) haha, and comes out of the bathroom and goes, Morgan. I want a paint horse. completely mater-of-factly like I was supposed to go get her one!  She's a sweet little girl, totally into dresses, pink and horses.

Austin loved me and I pretty much put him to sleep all weekend (which according to his mom Kari and his Granny Sharon, was a wonderful thing). He was getting angry with me Saturday night when we went out to Pablo's (excellent Mexican food in Shakopee) because I would stop paying attention to him for about 3 seconds.  I love babies! (About 10 people that I've known all my life from the track thought he was mine and I told them no way!)

I just love the races, it was good to see everyone and the wins were definitely bonuses.  (I spent my whole childhood there and it's always fun to see the kids I grew up with, all grown up.  I haven't seen a lot of them since I was about 12)

My aunt came out Sunday.  It's always good to see her AND she brought me my Ed Hardy flip flops (coincidentally, that's our horse trainers name haha) and I love them.  Her and her man came out to ride and just hang out and then joined us at the track on Monday.

I'm going to Fargo this weekend to visit my freshman year roommate and see a few other people I love.  We're planning on going to the lake Saturday so hope for nice weather for me!

Camp is 25 days away! I need to go shopping!

my life this week.

So Here I am.  Finals are done. Grades are posted (unfortunately, not so great this semester). And I still am lacking a place to live next year.  I'm pretty much sick of Realtors and this whole process. I'd just like a home please. I am done in Brookings in 4 weeks.  2 weeks of May and 2 weeks in June and then 1 week at home.  Then New York.  I'd really like to be all moved in and settled by the beginning of June.

New York is just 35 days away!  I got all my paper work printed off and now just have to go through the process of filling it all out.  And it's a lot of paper work. eww.

Work is going well, I'm spending a lot of time with small children.  We have a tour pretty much everyday and most of them are first graders.  It wears you out but they are so cute, it's worth it.
I also got to babysit two boys from church the other night.  They are just so cute, it's unbelievable.  But also sooo full of energy, I felt like I needed a nap half way through the night!  We did watch Kung Fu Panda too, which may have been a mistake, because Jaiden decided to break out the kung fu moves...too funny really.

so that's what's going on right now, nothing too exciting.  Work M-F and hanging out on the weekends.  I'll be home next weekend and in Fargo the weekend after that.  Graduations and catching up with friends from High School is pretty much going to eat up all my time.

Prom is today and my brother (my little baby brother who now towers over me at 6'3'') is going.  I can't wait to see pictures of him all spiffed up in his tux! I wish I would have decided to go home last night to see Grand March.

Also-Was at the Twins games Tuesday and Wednesday.  13 innings! But totally worth staying to the end to see that Grand Slam.  Did anyone watch the game on TV? See a huge sign with curly red and blue ribbon? It read: Burt Should Circle Us Because the Best things from South Dakota are: Cookies and Cream Ice Cream, The Two of Us and Jason Kubel!  I heard from a friend we were spotted during the game!

stay in my loop!

well. It's finals week and Yes, you're right, I should be studying, but I just can't seem to FOCUS.  Only 3 tests stand between me and summer (and the end of my 4th semester of college, yeah, I'm getting old!).  And what a CRAZY busy summer it's going to be.

Chem, Econ and Bio.  In that order. Oh boy, it's going to be tough to take tests when it's finally nice.

I finally found a place to stay for the month of May.  My friend Jillian who happens to be graduating has decided to win the best friend award and is letting me rent her room at a very cheap rate!  Jack and I are still looking for a place to live from June 1st on...but having a roof over my head for this month relieves a little anxiety at least.

I have a job for the rest of May and June until I leave for camp.  I'll be employed full time at the SDSU Dairy Bar and Plant.  38 hours a week, Monday through  Friday.  8-4pm.  What am I going to do with the rest of my time?  I think that I'm going to be very bored but at least it's only for a few weeks and my weekends are packed full!  (But if anyone has any book recommendations, they will be duly noted!)

For those of you who live in Minnesota (especially the Wright County Area), I'm going to be at mom and dads a few different times through out the summer and would definitely love to see you all!  I have a trip planned to Fargo and Dairy Camp as well.  A Girls Twins Getaway right after finals as well!  This summer may be shortened but it's not going to be any less fun!

The countdown to camp: 46 days.  FOURTY SIX until I board that Airplane and take off!  I'm getting to be way too excited!

Summertime.

oh man. so currently looking for housing for next year and the begining of the summer. I had thought we (my future roommate Jack and I) had pretty much secured a place starting May 1st but turns out I was wrong. So currently still looking for a place, they kick me out of the Dorms at noon on May 9th and seeing as I'm supposed to be working in Brookings starting May 11th, I have a problem. Hopefully I'll find somewhere to crash until I have a place or until I can move into whatever place I find, right now subleasing might be what happens. so Prayer is needed because I'm stressing out, I dont want to be homeless!

starting to prep for this summer and finding out there just isn't enough time to see everyone before I leave! I've got approximately four weekends open, so if you want Morgan time, claim it now!

I'm really excited to go to New York for this camp. It's becoming more real the closer to June I get and I'm also kind of nervous. Rich, Liberal (Mostly Jewish) kids for 8 weeks! It's going to be trying on my paitence but also a great learning experience plus I get to see woodstock! I really think it's going to be fabulous. (check out http://timberlakecamp.com/ to see the camp, it's beautiful!) I just checked the count down-only 72 days left until camp. SEVENTY TWO (less actually for me, we get there a week before the kids). It will be amazing to get paid to hang out and swim and craft and play sports and be a kid for 8 whole weeks, it's totally my dream job!

PLUS I'll be home in time for the state fair :)

a little longer of an update :]

well, I don't know chem test results but I didn't die and I don't think I failed it, I knew forsure more than half of the questions. so I'm thinking it won't be an awful result.

Bio test tomorrow, but that's easier and it's about Human Anatomy which I learned alot of in Bio 101 and in High School. so I'm not as worried and we group studied tonight, which was actually kind of productive.

Tomorrow I'm going home, so excited to see mom and dad, the new filly, the dog AND sleep in my bed :). I have a crazy busy weekend planned, catching up with everyone and going out basically every day. But I miss everyone and I need some catch up time.

I talked to the realty company today and the lady we had met with is uh, no longer with them, so that's why we hadn't heard anything about an apartment. But luckily, the lady on the phone was super nice and is getting everything checked out for me and calling me back soon. So Hopefully, we'll know something about a place soon. Please pray because 4 hours is too long of a commute. :] I'll keep everyone updated as I know.

okay, well. time to pack and perhaps get some sleep. working and a test in the morning. then driving home.

Briefly...

Roommate moved out today. Apparently She Can't Stand Living with me. It was news to me until just a few days ago. I have so much space I don't know what to do with it!

Chem test tomorrow. Wish me luck, been studying lots. Bio test is thursday, should be easier.
Disecting pigs in Bio Lab again tomorrow. Ew.

Easter break this weekend, no class friday or monday. Coming home thursday night :]

Better update later.

an update on the issues.

well. I'm dropping Spanish. That's all there is too it. I'll go to the registar's office tomorrow and take care of it officially. Really don't want the F on my transcript.

Chem is going slightly better, I got a B on the last quiz! It was very exciting for me.

Feeling quite sick these days. Can't seem to shake the sore throat, cheast/sinus cold, achey, tired feeling. Trying to get into the clinic this week to see if it's something more serious and if they can fix it! **just made my appointment. Tomorrow at 10:30. **

I'm signing up for Relay for Life also. If anyone is interested in helping with Donations, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll have some luminarias for sale as well as accepting any other donations people feel like giving, it all helps!

planning out next semester. it's going to be crazy

Annette, Miss Malibu Carbie.

Today is March 28th. 5 months and 2 days since Annette's last day. I'm not sure why I'm thinking about her more this week than other weeks but I am. Maybe it's because it is getting closer and closer to fair time or because the weather has been especially nice (Not the last few days, but before that.). I'm not exactly sure, but I don't mind remembering.

I wrote this, (I guess I would call it a poem) about Annette a few months ago but haven't really felt the need to share it until now. It's not very good (I don't think) but it's how I feel so I guess that means something.

Thinking of you everyday
Wondering why we lost you so soon
a beautiful girl with a beautiful heart
you'll live on in our smiles

God called you home to soon for us
but we have to understand
As much as we wanted you here,
You're place is in Heaven

You lived for him and gave him the reins,
Showed us that Today is the day
Smiling always just like you used to do,
bringing a little bit of your light to the rest of the world

Annette, we will always walk with confidence, even when we feel we don't have any because, you are by our sides.

There You Are by Martina Mcbride, One of Annette's songs.
(Never Alone by Lady Antebellum is the other.)

Annette and I at Regional Horse Bowl Contest in 2007.
Miss Malibu Carbie, We will always Love you.

34-3 gallon tubs of Ice Cream.

So today was Little I friday. There where sooooo many baby's running around campus. It was also a TGIF and some science fair.

We were crazy busy at the Dairy Bar. We literaly went through 34-3 gallon tubs of Ice Cream. We scooped alll afternoon and I think that I have ice cream scooper elbow.

I'm using this weekend to recoup and do lots and lots of homework. and study up chem. May also head to the Animal Science Arena and watch the Beef and Dairy Shows. And a little bit of the Little I dance tomorrow night. Thinking about dropping Spanish because I'm failing and I just don't think I can catch up. I need to do some thinking and praying and see which is the right path to take.

also, if you're reading this. I've got an issue going on that requires prayer, needing some guidance and wisdom. I'm looking to God for it to all play out the way he wants.

but tonight is just a lovely girls night in with my favorite roommate (or former actually), Sarah Redfield. so, back to that.

Proficiency Testing and Chemistry. Ugh.

So I woke up this morning with a sore throat and no voice. I had a voice when I went to bed, where did it go? Not so cool. And that was just the begining of my fantastic day.

When you graduate high school, isn't standardized testing supposed to be left behind? Today I took a four hour proficiency test that is mandatory for me to pass in order to graduate.

We had 40 minutes of writing, 40 minutes of math, 15 minutes to pee and then 40 minutes of reading and 40 minutes of science. Reminded me of the ACT, pretty much the same questions, and uh, Hello, already took that and did well, why do I need to take it again?

and to top the day off, I had a chem quiz. However, I think this quiz has gone better than any of the ones before it. I'm pretty sure I got at least a 24. I was excited because I understand what we were doing in those two chapters. We started chapter 8 today so we'll have to see how that goes. I have to spend my weekend writing my second term paper for that class too. Hopefully I can buckle down and actually get it done.

The First One

Because I'm off in South Dakota doing the college thing, I thought I'd start a blog to keep everyone that I never see updated on my crazy busy life.
Currently, I'm taking 16 credits, 5 classes and two labs.
College Algebra, Elementry Organic Chemistry with a lab, Spanish 202, Macroeconomics, and Biology 103 with a lab.
Everything is going pretty well except Chemistry, it's kinda kicking me in the butt. Lab is going well but lecture is a struggle.

I'm still working at the Dairy Plant. I've been there for three semesters now and pretty much know how everything works. I work thursdays which are Ice Cream days so I spend 5-7 hours freezing ice cream, about 500 gallons at a time. I also picked up two shifts in the Dairy Bar where we serve our ice cream and I'm starting to become a pro at making shakes! (But I still split a cup every now and then.)

Other than that, I don't do too much these days. I'm involved with Dairy Club and Engage College Ministry. I'm enjoying the new group I found and am even on the leadership team. I also found a church to attned out here (which happens to be the one that sponsors Engage) and am really starting to feel like I belong out here in Brookings.

I also had the oppertunity to visit the Lucky family in colorado for spring break. I hadn't been out there to see them since Senior year and it was a great week of catching up and relaxing! I didn't realize exactly how much I missed them until I was out there again. I'm definately ready to go back.

Brit's like the little sister I never had!!!

The week after we got back, we had the Hansen Hall formal which was just another excuse for all the girls to get dressed up and dance in the lobby. The guy of hansen aren't so big on the formal wear but it was a good night! Below is a shot of the Girls from 2E
